B1 · 18. Zamir ve soru incelikleri
18.3 Dolaylı sorular
Neden zorlanıyoruz
Türkçede kibar soru sormak için cümlenin sırası değişmiyor, sadece başına bir giriş ekleniyor: "Saat kaç?" → "Acaba saat kaç biliyor musunuz?" Soru kelimesi ve fiil aynı yerde kalıyor.
İngilizcede giriş eklendiği anda iç cümlenin sırası düz cümleye dönüyor:
• Direkt: What time is it?
• Dolaylı: Do you know what time it is?
"is it" → "it is". Soru sırası bozuluyor çünkü artık asıl soru "do you know"; geri kalanı bir bilgi parçası.
En sık hata soru sırasını korumak: "Do you know what time is it?" ✗. Bu hata çok yaygın ve kolayca fark ediliyor.
İkinci zorluk: yardımcı fiiller. "Where does he live?" dolaylı olduğunda do/does/did düşüyor: "Do you know where he lives?"
Bu yapı pratikte çok değerli: yabancı biriyle konuşurken direkt soru bazen sert duyuluyor, dolaylı soru her zaman kibar.
Temel dönüşüm: soru sırası bozuluyor
Giriş kalıbından sonra iç cümle özne + fiil sırasına dönüyor.
Where is the station? → Do you know where the station is?
Do you know where is the station?
Do you know where the station is?
What time is it? → Could you tell me what time it is?
Can you tell me what is your name?
Can you tell me what your name is?
do, does, did düşüyor
Direkt soruda yardımcı fiil vardı; dolaylı soruda yok ve çekim ana fiile geçiyor.
Bu iki hata birlikte çıkıyor: "Do you know where does he live?" Hem yardımcı duruyor hem sıra bozuk. Kuralı tek cümlede tut: girişten sonra düz cümle kur.
Where does he live? → Do you know where he lives?
Do you know where does he live?
Do you know where he lives?
What did she say? → Can you tell me what she said?
Can you tell me what did she say?
Can you tell me what she said?
When does the shop open? → Do you know when the shop opens?
Evet/hayır soruları: if ya da whether
Soru kelimesi yoksa if ya da whether ekleniyor.
Is he coming? → Do you know if he's coming?
Did she call? → I wonder whether she called.
Do you know is he coming?
Do you know if he's coming?
Could you tell me whether the bank is open?
whether daha resmi.
Giriş kalıpları
Hangi girişi seçtiğin kibarlık düzeyini belirliyor.
Do you know…?
Nötr, günlük.
Could you tell me…?
Kibar.
Would you mind telling me…?
Çok kibar.
I was wondering if…
En kibar — rica için de kullanılıyor.
Any idea…?
Çok günlük: "Any idea what time it starts?"
Do you happen to know…?
Kibar ve doğal.
Neden kullanılıyor
Direkt soru bazı durumlarda sert ya da sorgulayıcı duyuluyor. Dolaylı soru aynı bilgiyi yumuşatarak istiyor.
What's your name?
Nötr ama resmi ortamda sert.
Could I take your name?
Resepsiyonda, resmi ortamda.
Why are you late?
Sorgulayıcı.
Can I ask what happened?
Yumuşak.
How much do you earn?
Kaba.
Do you mind me asking what you earn?
Hâlâ kişisel ama kibar.
Bildirme cümlelerinde de aynı kural
Soru sormasan da, bir soruyu aktarıyorsan aynı dönüşüm oluyor.
I don't know where she lives.
I'm not sure what he wants.
I wonder why she didn't come.
I don't know what is the problem.
I don't know what the problem is.
She asked me where I lived.
Dolaylı anlatım — 19. ünitede.
Soru işareti var mı
Giriş bir soruysa soru işareti var; bir bildirmeyse yok.
Do you know where she is?
Soru → işaret var.
I don't know where she is.
Bildirme → işaret yok.
I wonder if she's coming.
Soru gibi duruyor ama bildirme.
Could you tell me what time it is?
Soru → işaret var.
Kendini sına
Cevabı görmeden önce kendin kur.
Hatayı bul: "Do you know where is the toilet?"
Do you know where the toilet is?
Girişten sonra düz cümle sırası.
Hatayı bul: "Can you tell me what time does it start?"
Can you tell me what time it starts?
does düşüyor, çekim ana fiile geçiyor.
Kibarlaştır: "Is the bank open?"
Do you know if the bank is open?
Evet/hayır sorusu → if ya da whether.
Hatayı bul: "I don't know what is his name."
I don't know what his name is.
Bildirme cümlesinde de aynı dönüşüm geçerli.
